About Sam…

Hi my name is Sam Matthews and I am a Brisbane-based emerging artist originally from Townsville. I intuitively createvivid, joyful floral artworks painted in acrylic from my home studio. My artworks equally celebrate my love of nature and all colours!  

I studied a Bachelor of Visual Arts at James Cook University and after graduating I had a very fulfilling career as a graphic artist and worked in the television industry for most of my adult life, but I'm a passionate painter at heart.

Floral Symphony collection has been a true passion project since I’ve returned from a recent holiday to England. This joyful collection includes nine colourful artworks where I’ve explored and pushed my creative journey. I hope you enjoy!

Highlights include selling out at Grammar Art Show & Tower Art Show, being named a Jumbled Finalist in their yearly Artist Superstar competition and having my first solo exhibition with Wild Canary in Brookfield Brisbane, where I sold artwork for the first time internationally.

Since 2020 I've focused on growing my art practice and developing my own personal style. I’ve regularly taken part in local and regional group exhibitions and I am extremely honoured to be exhibiting solo for the first time in Roma at Gifts at Teacup.
